How to, Cope With Stress?

Keep reading because the future is looking very, very good.

A modern day curse: How to cure it: be free from Stress.

Stress and the magic of colours. For centuries colours have been used in differing cultures to induce an altered state of mind.

For example Red has always been associated with Danger

Red for Anger

Red for speed

Red with Anger

Ferrari the Italian motor manufacturer sell more Red cars than any other because Red is associated with living on the wire, danger, excitement, sex appeal.

The colour Blue is associated with peace and calm.

The United Nations flag is Blue and White. To be at the sea with Blue sky and water has a peaceful relaxing effect and induces a feeling of serenity

White is also a sign of Peace, a White Dove signifying peace but also surrender i.e 'Raise the White Flag'.

Gold is associated with wealth, opulence, standards and value. i.e "He is worth his weight in Gold." Countries use the 'Gold standard rather than rely on paper money which is produce by cutting down trees of which there is an inexhaustible supply. Whereas with Gold there is a finite amount and the effort to recover this precious mineral requires in some cases deep mining and heavy expenditure thus ensuring the preciousness of Gold over paper money.

Yellow - Excitement. 'Alert' as a precursor to be given the 'Red' light

Green - for 'Go' as in Traffic signs.

Being given the Green Light or a clean bill of health.

However now here is the interesting part.

It has now been officially confirmed by the medical profession that walking in areas of greenery, trees and grass, actually lowers stress levels as well as lowering blood pressure levels.

How interesting is that? The medical profession instead of dishing out prescriptions for pills tranquilizers like Prozac they are actually encouraging theirpatients to get out into the open green spaces where there so many benefits to be enjoyed and all for free.

If ever there was a happy pill then this surely has to be it! If you are suffering the effects of stress in any way, look towards your lifestyle for an answer. A pill is only a patch over a wound. You need to look for the cause and try to resolve the situation as soon as as stress free as possible.

Hear are some other ways to help you relieve the symptoms.

If you have a hobby then devote a little more time to that. If you don't have an interest then do try to develop one such as

Relax by reading an enjoyable book. It is surprising how quickly time can pass when you get absorbed into a good story.

Take up painting. That greatest of statesmen Sir. Winston Churchill used to escape from the pressures of Cabinet during the war that he often took his easel and paiys out into the country to let his mind recover and relax.

Cycling for pleasure. This also has the added advantage of not only relaxing the mind but exercising the body and burning calories. Somewhere in the region of 380 calories per hour burned.

Sitting by the water and just watching the water flow has a calming effect all of it's own.

Playing Bowls. Not restricted to senior players nowadays, it is a gentle sociable sport and exercise suitable for young/old/male/female in no particular order.

Knitting. Nowadays many men have taken to this hobby so it is not only the ladies and the men who knit but often the men out-shine the ladies.

Sewing. Needle point and stitching are growing in popularity

Gardening. Either flower or vegetable which will contribute towards enjoying a healthy diet.

Pets. Stroking a pet has been proved to lower stress levels in patients and even Nursing Homes nowadays have a cat or a dog to stimulate the patients interest in life in general.

Learn a new skill. Again it will take the mind off the situation that is bringing about the stress.

Dining out in good company. If you do not have friends or relatives that will join in with you then join a pudding club. A curry club. A wine appreciation club.Go on regular outings to the Cinema, the Theatre, the Ballet, Opera. Join and sing in a Choir. Visit museums, art galleries, take up swimming.

If you or someone you know is depressed look for the signs Sometimes the person becomes restless and cranky. The person gets irritated very soon and always looks frustrated followed by poor mental health condition leading to headaches, body pain and digestive disorders. Stress

An excellent cure for many ills is Tai Chi also known as “meditation in motion,” used for meditation and complete relaxation.

Long term practitioners are able to have their body organs re-aligned to their proper places. Recommend to enhance one’s mental and physical health. This traditional Chinese practice is defined by slow, flowing movements that emphasize and release energy forces. When this energy becomes blocked, one becomes ill.

Yoga. Over an eight week period, a study involving 13 women with breast cancer that had spread to other parts of their bodies with the age average of participants being 59 years, and the average time of diagnosis being seven years previous to the study and tested the effects that a specifically tailored yoga program would have on these women the women attended a yoga class which included breathing, mediation and gentle yoga postures, as prescribed by the “Yoga of Awareness” program, which is specifically designed to help with emotional distress once a week.

According to the researchers, the yoga exercises demonstrated immediate benefits in “significantly boosting daily invigoration and a sense of acceptance”. Relaxation was improved and pain relief was evident as well.

So as you can see there are a number of ways and even more than those mentioned here, to overcome stress naturally but the one thing that so far that i have not mentioned is 'The Health Benefits of Walking.

Where as the true practitioners of these last two art forms have practiced over many years and perhaps have visited the mother country to further understand the finer aspects of their art, with walking you can just get up out of the chair and be doing it for maximum benefit right away. So simple to do any where, any time, without any special training, clothing, or any specific place to carry out the walking providing that you can find a little oasis of green and walk in comfort and peace then you have all the makings of living a Stress free life.
