Can Walking Really Cure Diabetes?

On it's own walking will not cure diabetes but taken in context with a number of other measures then it most certainly does go a long way towards relieving many of the symptoms associated with this modern-day epidemic. Firstly let's look to see exactly what Diabetes is.

There are three types of what is the fastest epidemic in the world.

Type 1. which is insulin dependent and mostly hereditary or it happens in early childhood and this accounts for about 7%, of sufferers and is a predominantly white Caucasian disease.

Type 2. Often referred to as 'lifestyle diabetes' because the person is not insulin dependent as the sufferer actually does produce insulin but due to the body/system having been continually overloaded with refined food and sugars or a lack of stimulating exercise does not produce insulin in sufficient quantities.

And the third Type 3. which only affects pregnant women

It is a most deadly and serious condition accounting for somewhere in the region of 20% (1in 5) of all deaths in America and equally high amounts in the developed world.

The further that you move away from the 'Civilized' diet of over refined, high fat, high protein and highly calorific foods and too much of all of these as well, to a more traditional native diet then the lower the incidences become.

For instance if you are a native of an Asian country living in the rural districts or if you live in Papua New Guinea or even in the poorer areas of Mexico this disease is virtually unknown.

So what can we do about it knowing these basic facts?

Well we need to understand that the body suffers from what is believed to be 'oxidative stress' whereby the free radicals in the body rampage through our system using all of the antioxidants that are so needed in maintaining a health body.

Firstly we need to visit the Doctor and get our blood sugar levels checked. They will do this by doing a fasting blood glucose test. They will also check your urine and do a blood sample to see if the white blood cell count is low.

The second thing we need to do is isolate the causing factors and remove them from our diet and that means a change of diet.

Stop taking sugars and sugar substitutes as these substitutes have exactly the same effect on the body as the real thing. Incidentally any cancer sufferer needs to follow exactly the same advice.

Sugar and sugar substitutes are not good for the body and are not needed in any shape or form and some cause terrible effects on the body which the medical profession is only just waking up to acknowledging.

If you smoke. STOP. Smokers have a greater incidence than others.

If you drink heavily. Cut right back or cut it out completely.

If you are overweight then take steps to reduce your weight. See diet you must reduce your weight if you are intent on getting rid of this disease.

For your information, the lower the meat intake and the higher the intake of vegetables, fish, fruit, pasta, brown rice and salads the greater your success of overcoming this illness.

Incidentally the Seventh Day Adventist group in California whose chosen diet is similar to that i just suggested have the lowest incidence of cancer, heart disease and other conditions as a whole

So if you eat a great deal of red meat reduce the amount. This is not quite so critical if you are lucky to get naturally meadow grass fed organic meat as this has a high Omega 3 content and is free from so many drugs, anti-biotic, growth hormones and other not pleasant cocktails.

When you realize that if you are diabetic you stand a very high risk of having : Three times the rate of heart attack compared to the normal person. A greater risk of atherosclerosis (clogged up arteries).Blindness and sight problems.Amputation of limbs to prevent gangarine resulting in poor blood circulation to the limbs.Various cancers.Gastrointestinal disorders.Ulcers or slowly healing wounds.Kidney infections.Erectile dysfunction if you are a man.Nerve damage.Liver disease. The list goes on

So what can we do further to ease, cure or prevent diabetes.

Well if your cholesterol levels are high seek advice and get the levels down.

Naturally the medical profession will endeavor to get you to take prescribed drugs as 'The best way to do this'. I leave this up to you but knowing the dangers that 'statins' present for lowering cholesterol levels with many unpleasant side effects and similarly drugs used for diabetes treatment the likes of which are metformin, acarbose and sulfonylureas, i am not in any way a medical practitioner neither am i qualified to give medical advice so i let you make your own decisions but merely presenting the facts as i know them i know which route that i would take.

How about this good old Grandmothers recipe for keeping and creating a healthy body,

Pumpkin Pie

A DIABETES MIRACLE... that will-

1. Prevent diabetes from being a part of our life.

2. Reduce your blood sugar levels by 30%

3. Actually increase your body's natural insulin production by 3 times as much

How exactly does pumpkin do this ? Ever wondered why Pumpkin pie taste so good?

A big part is the sugar and spice. Pumpkin pie is spiced with cinnamon and cloves...Bearing in mind what i mentioned previously about sugars go for the dark unrefined raw sugar.

cinnamon, cloves and other spices ready to make a fresh brew of Tea And both of these spices taste wonderful when you add them to something sweet.

Think of old-fashioned cinnamon buns. Sugar and cinnamon taste like they're made for each other...

How about a baked apple or honey-glazed country ham studded with cloves...

"Sugar and spice and all things nice" as the nursery tale runs "What are little girls made of ?" perhaps 'old folk lore' is telling us something here.

Recently both these 'sugar-loving' spices have come under the microscope of the scientists. And they are finding that they're astonishingly effective medicines for the treatment and prevention of diabetes.

Yes, believe it or not...Cinnamon in it's chemical structure is incredibly close to insulin and as a consequence it turns out to be an amazing diabetes 'drug'...

In addition to this important finding, cinnamon may also triple the effect of the natural insulin produced by your body.

This is important information. In Britain in 2007 the number of diagnosed cases of diabetes hit a peak of 2.5 million.

(Between April 2007 and March 2008 167,000 new cases were reported according to the charity Diabetes UK)

Well, if you've got diabetes - or if you're at risk - this simple fact could be life-changing. Because, as you probably know, Type II diabetes happens when the insulin in your body becomes less effective.

Imagine turning it around with just a pinch of cinnamon...

Let me simply quote a scientist who's helping to unlock this miracle:

- Professor Don Graves, University of California, Santa Barbara. He said

"Cinnamon itself has insulin-like activity and...a bio-active component that we believe has the potential to prevent or overcome diabetes."

But the beauty of this natural treatment is you really do not need to consume vast quantities of these lovely spices

Just a sprinkling of this spice in your coffee, on your cereal, or desserts could help you to

* Drop your blood sugar up to 30%, even if you've got diabetes...

* Lower the 'bad' cholesterol and heart-damaging triglycerides in your blood and potentially increase the healthy HDL (High-Density Lipoproteins)

* Help in preventing diabetes from taking over or even beat it all together.

Well supplementation with good nutritional supplements is a good way to go, naturally. Ensuring that you are getting a good supply of the following minerals Chromium, which in excessive amounts is highly toxic so the maximum amount should not exceed 400mcg. Vanadium and Molybdenum to help the body utilize the Vanadium, are three minerals that have been proven to improve the lot of diabetes.

Fortunately a good all round supplement will include many other minerals vitamins and trace elements so look for the inclusion of Selenium a mineral that used to be in our soils but the land has become so overworked that in many countries it is no longer available naturally in food with the exception of non-farmed wallnuts, iodine, boron, iron, zinc, and CoQ10 a really essential supplements even in it's own right especially if you are already on statins.

Statins weaken the muscles and the most worked muscle in the body is the heart so you need CoQ10 to help maintain a healthy heart and of course look for a good measure of vitamins.

As diabetes is a circulatory related disease unlike many other forms of unwell-ness where exercise is not mandatory with diabetes you must exercise and you must exercise regularly.

Walking is probably the most simple, enjoyable, do it by yourself or with company that you can do. You can walk anywhere and everywhere any time of day or night winter spring and summer and autumn too.

An article was published by the University of Perugia in Italy extolling the virtues of walking. It was found that the more patients walked the greater the fall in blood pressure to a safe level. Cholesterol and triglyceride. Patients lost weight their waist and hip sizes were reduced and their fasting blood sugar levels fell just by walking two or more miles a day with no other lifestyle changes.

Similarly studies were carried out at the University in Barcelona on both type 1 and 2 diabetes who exercised regularly for three months and they found that their waist sizes reduced their blood pressure fell their general fitness improved dramatically they all lost weight just through simple exercises such as walking. walking

If you are overweight and the chances are that if you have diabetes you are but not necessarily so, then anything that is easy to do costs nothing and is good for your health then it would be logical and prudent to follow this advice
